Conventional adjustable potentiometers have three pins. If it is an adjustable potentiometer with a ground pad, it needs to be grounded to prevent interference. Secondly, when installing the adjustable potentiometer, attention should be paid to the influence of other surrounding components on it. When replacing the new adjustable potentiometer, it is recommended to choose the same model and resistance as the original, and the length of the shaft and the end shape of the shaft should be the same as the original knob, if you are not a technical person, may not be familiar with its installation method, then the following will give you a detailed description of the installation method of the adjustable potentiometer!
(1) Pin installation: under normal circumstances, it can be directly inserted into the printed circuit board and wave soldering. Bushing mounting: Adjustable potentiometers with bushing mounting can be used when designing some structures that need to withstand severe mechanical vibrations and shocks. Secure it to the bottom plate with sleeve nuts and washers.
(2) The knob installed on the shaft end of the adjustable potentiometer should not be too large, and should match its size to avoid over-adjusting torque, so as not to damage the internal stop. Do not bend or twist the wire forcibly to prevent it from breaking. When installing the potentiometer in the circuit, pay attention to the correct connection of the three pins. The welding time should be appropriate, and the heating time should not be too long to avoid the shell around the wire becoming soft and deformed. Solder joints should be tinned before welding to remove paint and dirt from the joints.
(3) When welding or installing, the mark should be easy to observe. And it should be installed in a place that is easy to adjust. Consider heat dissipation when installing a high-power potentiometer. Small power potentiometer should use conduction heat dissipation and convection heat dissipation. It is recommended that the lead of the adjustable potentiometer be short mounted on the printed circuit board so that the baseplate can be used for heat dissipation.
(4) When installing, please use fastening parts to firmly fix it, so as not to loosen and contact other components in the circuit. During the installation, ensure that the positioning columns are properly inserted into the positioning holes on the installation panel to avoid shell deformation. The rectangular fine-tuning potentiometer fixed with screws must not be too hard to avoid damaging the internal structure of the potentiometer.
